As one of the most pivotal moments in Irish history, the 1916 Rising deserves a damn good dramatisation.

RTÉ have set out to provide just that with their five-part drama series 'Rebellion', and the country's national broadcaster has given audiences their first look at the show today.

The series, which 'covers the violent birth of modern Ireland', will star Brian Gleeson, Charlie Murphy and Sarah Greene.

There's no release date set for the series just yet, but it's safe to say we are very excited for it to hit our screens.
