The words ‘wedding’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ in the same sentence are enough to send chills down the spine of any GOT fan, but thankfully this went off without a hitch.
SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn’t yet got as far as the end of Season Three in Game of Thrones, but anyone who’s up to date with the show will know that weddings rarely go to plan in Westeros. In fact, it is seemingly obligatory that at least one person dies in rather gruesome fashion and in the case of the infamous red wedding, several people die in horrendously gruesome fashion.
That might put some Game of Thrones fans off staging a wedding with a Game of Thrones theme, but not English couple Kerry Ford and Darren Prew, who got hitched in a very impressive Game of Thrones themed ceremony in Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire recently with the help of UK music and video service Blinkbox.
No stone was left unturned as Jon Snow (Darren) was wed to Daenerys Targaryen (Kerry) – that could never happen, right? – with a white walker serving as best man, Ygritte as the best woman and Khal Drogo, Melisandre, Brienne of Tarth and Hodor amongst the invited guests.
Breaking with Game of Thrones tradition, nobody died at the ceremony itself but we didn’t get to see what happened afterwards; we can only hope that the only murder going on was on the dancefloor.
