VIDEO: Ice Cube chatting about his ‘Irish roots’ and the Oscar controversy is fantastic TV

Paul Moore

Straight Outta Ireland.

There was no escaping Ice Cube last night because after a memorable appearance on The Late Late Show, he quickly hitched a ride on that secret supersonic underground train that connects Ireland to England.

The NWA icon was also chatting to Graham Norton about his upcoming film Ride Along 2 but that’s not all that Mr Cube – better known as O’Shea Jackson to his mother – was asked about.

I mean, with a name like that, his ‘Irish roots’ were bound to come up in a chat with the Corkman because the rapper is clearly from Kerry or Mayo. Then again, you never know with gangster rappers because to paraphrase a lyric from NWA’s classic anthem ‘Straight Outta Compton’ there’s “ain’t no tellin when I’m down for a jack(een) move”.

Here’s what Ice Cube had to say about his ‘Irish roots’ but that’s not all he was talking about because his views on the Oscar controversy are a must watch.

We absolutely love Hugh Laurie’s reaction to the rap icons views regarding the lack of diversity amidst this years Oscar nominees.
