Video: JOE meets Jack Reynor and Gerard Barrett, the star and director of new Irish film Glassland

The future of Irish cinema

JOE

These lads are going to be big, big stars.

Following on from the release of his super debut feature film Pilgrim Hill in 2013, Kerryman Gerard Barrett has written and directed Glassland, a brand new Irish film starring one of this country’s hottest acting talents, Jack ‘I’m friends with Optimus Prime’ Reynor.

Set in Dublin, Glassland is a harrowing tale about one young man, John (Reynor), and his sad struggle to take care of his alcoholic mother, Jean (Toni Colette).

The film has already received rave reviews from critics around the world and Reynor even bagged himself the acting prize in the World Cinema competition at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, a superb achievement.

Ahead of the film’s release in Irish cinemas this week, we sent resident ‘Sexy Interviewer’ (his words, not ours) Peter Cooney along to chat to the two young men about the making of the film.

Enjoy…

Glassland is released in Irish cinemas on Friday 17 April.
