Video: Man of Steel gets the excellent Honest Trailer treatment

Is it a bird!? Is it a plane!? No, it's a disappointing Superman reboot.

Eoghan Doherty

The good people at Screen Junkies have brilliantly turned their comedic critical gaze to Zack Snyder’s depressing Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

Here at JOE we were pretty disappointed by the eagerly-anticipated Superman blockbuster, a film that couldn’t even be saved by a shouty angry Michael Shannon (is there any other kind?) and which probably should have been renamed Man of Steel’s Two Robin Hood Dads.

Although Henry Cavill most definitely looked the part (complete with his obligatory Beard of Sorrow), the Honest Trailer hits the comedy nail on the comedy head by describing Kal-El as an Englishman with the “acting range of a crumpet but, my God, what a beefcake.”

Even watching this short clip ironically reminds JOE of just how forgettable Man of Steel actually was, as there are multiple moments that we genuinely can’t remember ever seeing in the cinema.

In spite of all of JOE and Screen Junkies’ criticism though, to this day we still can’t but help get really excited every time we replay the excellent original trailer.

Check it out and get ready to be foolishly optimistic all over again:
