We’d love to have our birthday party in an aircraft hangar.
Sometimes we like to think that A-list Hollywood stars are just like you and me, but then one of them relays details of having a birthday bash in an aircraft hangar and you soon realise your lives are worlds apart.
Robert Downey Jr. celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this month and he told David Letterman about how he decided to treat himself, renting out an aircraft hangar and getting no less than Duran Duran to play some tunes.
But they were only the support act. For Steely Dan.
Granted, both of those bands may not mean much to our younger readers but to Downey Jr.’s generation they’re a huge deal.
Downey Jr. might have let himself down on stage but it still sounded like one hell of a party.
Better craic than this interview in any case.
