Ryan Gosling sure is a popular man with the ladies, but he’d be at the top of a lot of man-crush lists too; he’s been in some great movies, comes across as a sound bloke and is quite a handsome chap after all.
Last night, he further endeared himself to his Irish fanbase at the Hollywood Film Awards when presenting our own Saoirse Ronan with the New Hollywood Award for her star turn in Brooklyn.
As well as paying tribute to her remarkable body of work to date, Gosling made sure to give the audience a lesson in how to pronounce her first name, something that has troubled Hollywood folk for the many years Saoirse has been a star.

We reckon people at home are more likely to go with ‘Seer-sha’ rather than Gosling’s ‘Ser-sha’ pronunciation, but at least it’s a damn sight better than some of the more ridiculous attempts at saying her name over the years.
Hollywood better get used to it, because they’re going to be hearing it a lot for years to come.
