You may call JOE cynical in our old age of 273 but there are times when we go to the cinema and think that every new film we see looks exactly like one we watched a few weeks ago.

For example, our favourite comic book films will always feature an object that has the potential to destroy the world, all horror films seem to involve some form of creepy found footage while sports films must feature a montage.

Cliched and formulaic are two words that definitely be used to describe Michael Mann’s films because the director is unique when it comes to how his films look.

His new film Blackhat, which he directed and wrote, sees the director move into the digital age as the story focuses on a hacker heist.

The meticulous filmmaker has spent years researching the material for his new film which explores the public’s reliance on technology and the security issues that it raises.

Here we were thinking that it was just about some geeky lad playing World of Warcraft on his laptop for hours on end.

Thor himself Chris Hemsworth is the leading man in this one, playing a convict that’s the polices only hope of thwarting a high-level cybercrime network.

The trailer looks epic with Mann’s patented action scenes being filmed in locations as diverse as Chicago, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

Take a look.
