Video: This recreation of the Game of Thrones opening sequence is excellent

Brilliantly done and just in time for fans of the show to get in the mood for the eagerly-awaited Season Four next month.

Brilliantly done and just in time for fans of the show to get in the mood for the eagerly-awaited Season Four next month.

Fans of the show might find it hard to believe that the excellent opening sequence ahead of each episode of Game of Thrones – which features an incredible amount of detail and includes a map of all of the important locations – could be improved upon, but a talented group of French students might just have managed it.

As part of a first-year design course at ECV Aquitaine in France, the students in question came up with a minimalist recreation of the famous intro and added their own twist, most notably including the names of the actors in the various locations in which their character last appeared in Season Three.

You’ll see, for example, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Lannister) at King’s Landing, while the lovely Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is becoming even more powerful and beautiful across the Narrow Sea.

Game of Thrones fanatics might not appreciate any deviation from the norm but this really is outstanding stuff and, no more than this special competition offering JOE readers a chance to see a special preview screening of the first episode of Season Four at the Lighthouse Cinema next week, should help whet the appetite for what’s to come.
