WATCH: Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot looks like the best video game movie ever made

Except, unbelievably, it isn’t based on a video game…

Seriously, just listen to the official synopsis:

“Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation.

“With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force –stronger than ever and able to heal instantly.

“But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.”

Is that not the plot to the best video game you’ve ever heard of?

And when you watch the trailer for the movie, it’ll seem even more like it has been adapted from the best game we’ve never gotten to play.

It isn’t very often that we get great games based on movies (aside from GoldenEye, and, ironically, The Chronicles of Riddick, starring Vin Diesel), but this could be a prime example of one that Sony need to adapt ASAP for the PlayStation.

Anyways, Diesel is directed by first time helmer Dave Wilson (best known for his visual effects work on – guess what? – games like The Division and BioShock Infinite), while the graphic novel it is based upon on has been adapted by the guys who previously wrote Arrival and Bird Box.

If they can all get the tone of this just right – which should be the impossible middle ground between Memento and Venom – then we could be on to one of the most fun movies of 2020.

Starring: Vin Diesel, Eiza González, Guy Pearce, Toby Kebbell

Directed by: Dave Wilson

Irish release date: 21 February 2020

Enjoy!
