This weekend marked Andrew Lincoln's final appearance in the hugely successful post-apocalyptic show, in which he stars as Rick Grimes.
However, just as soon as the show appeared to bid adieu to Rick Grimes, it was confirmed that fans had not seen the last of him after all. As it turns out, Lincoln has signed on to appear in a number of Walking Dead films.
"This is not a trick. This is the end of Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead. This is not going to be the end of Rick Grimes’ story", chief content officer Scott Gimple said on the live after-show immediately trailing Lincoln’s last episode of the flagship series.
"We’re going to continue telling Rick Grimes’ story in a series of AMC original films. There’s a lot of story to tell."
Fans will be very excited to learn that the upcoming movies will show "a different corner of the world". The movies are scheduled to begin production in 2019.
