It is just the first of three confirmed TV projects around the Wizarding World that WB has in the works.

We’re still a few months out from the actual 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (or Sorcerer’s Stone, depending on where you live), which held its world premiere in London in November 2001.

Obviously we don’t need to tell you that the series proved to be massively successful in the two decades since then, and to celebrate the special anniversary, Warner Bros. and HBO are already building up steam for the big celebrations later this year.

The official Harry Potter website, WizardingWorld.Com has put a call out of Harry Potter super-fans to take part in their upcoming unscripted quiz show which is set to air towards the end of 2021.

The website states the following:

“The as-of-yet untitled quiz will feature four one-hour quiz challenges across four consecutive days and will finish with a retrospective special, all celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone’s film this year. So, get ready for a host of magic and challenges, and a celebration of that first film that introduced us to the wizarding world for the first time.”

The bad news about applying for the quiz is that it requires you to be eligible to work in the U.S. in order to participate. So the vast majority of Irish Harry Potter super-fans won’t be able to take part, but there will be an at-home element of the quiz show, so everyone will still be able to take part in some manner.

On the top of the quiz show and the retrospective special, WB and HBO are also working on developing a live-action TV series based around the Harry Potter series, but as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that is still in the extremely early days of pre-production.

Much like the upcoming Friends: Reunion special for HBO Max, we don’t have an Irish release date for any of the above yet, but once we do, we’ll be sure to let you know!
