The trailer for the upcoming sequel also sees the return of Scarlet Witch.
Having played after the credits of the smash-hit Spider-Man: No Way Home, the teaser for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has finally hit the web.
Set to be released next May, the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange will involve Benedict Cumberbatch’s hero sorcerer facing the consequences for breaking open the multiverse in the most recent Spider-Man film.
Filled with Easter Eggs for fans – there are even nods to this year’s animated MCU show What If?… – the psychedelic, slightly horror-tinged new teaser sees the teaming up of Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), following the events of series WandaVision.
And it looks like the spell-making pair are set to face off against a formidable, strangely familiar foe – an alternative, baddie version of Cumberbatch’s sorcerer.
Directed by Sam Raimi (the Tobey Maguire-starring Spider-Man trilogy), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to arrive in Irish cinemas on 6 May.
