How long does it take to bury the truth?

Seven Seconds is an upcoming anthological crime drama from Netflix that explores the human stories behind the headlines we read every day.

The new series is based around the family of Brenton Butler. Life changes in a second after a white policeman accidentally hits and critically injures a black teenager, in a northeastern city explodes with racial tension.

Following the incident is an attempted cover up and its aftermath, leading to the trial of the century.

It’s understood that the Black Lives Matter movement inspired the creation of the new series.

The series is from creator and executive producer and showrunner Veena Sud and produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.

The series stars two-time Emmy winner Regina King (American Crime) alongside breakout British actress Clare-Hope Ashitey (Doctor Foster), Russell Hornsby (Fences), Beau Knapp (Sand Castle), Michael Mosley (Ozark), David Lyons (Safe Haven), Raul Castillo (Special Correspondents), Zackary Momoh (A United Kingdom), Nadia Alexander (Blame), and Coley Speaks (Circle).

Seven Seconds hits Irish Netflix on 23 February.
