Having already tackled Donald Trump and Putin in the first two weeks since his return to the air, this week John Oliver looks back over Obamacare and how the US government is tackling it with Obama no longer in power.
Just shy of 50 million Americans had no form of insurance prior to Obamacare, which meant if they got sick or injured, they’d be in crippling debt the second they came through a hospital’s doors.
Obamacare aimed to fix that, but on last night’s episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver goes in depth in how it worked, if it worked, and now that Trump plans to shut it down and replace it with something new, just what that something new might be.
Spoiler: the replacement doesn’t sound so great.
