WATCH: Michael Fassbender is in Kerry right now as he receives his hometown’s highest honour

Paul Moore

Yeah, he’s sound.

We’re huge fans of Michael Fassbender because aside from being a remarkably talented actor, the Oscar nod for Steve Jobs being the latest accolade in his very impressive career, he has always struck us as someone that’s remarkably sound.

We fondly remember the moment that he spoke Irish at the Formula One, his raunchy story on Graham Norton or his most recent appearance on US TV where he told the world that his dad is basically madder than a bag of spiders.

The 39-year-old actor was inducted into the Order of Innisfallen this afternoon and he was joined at the ceremony in Muckross House by his Oscar-winning partner Alicia Vikander.

For those of you that don’t know, Fassbender moved to Killarney at the age of two and spent his formative years in the Kingdom.

Since coming to the world’s attention in 2008 with his incredible performance in Hunger, Fassbender has gone on to star in some brilliant films like 12 Years A Slave, Prometheus, Frank, Shame, Macbeth and the X-Men franchise.

Here he is accepting his award.
