WATCH: New docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly” to explore serious claims against the singer

Carl Kinsella

R Kelly

This looks like a very tense watch.

Kelly has been dogged by controversy throughout his career. In 2006, the singer stood trial on child pornography charges but was found not guilty. He had also been accused of illegally marrying the late singer Aaliyah illegally when she was 15 years old.

Most recently, a wide-ranging BuzzFeed report detailed allegations that R. Kelly was in charge of an abusive cult.

Several streaming services — including Spotify, Apple Music and Pandora — removed R. Kelly’s music from their services following a re-emergence of the accusations.

The trailer for Surviving R. Kelly, which will premiere on Lifetime in January of next year, features exclusive interviews with some of the women who have made the allegations against R. Kelly.

“He ain’t a monster by himself. It took some help,” one of the women says.

This will definitely be worth watching.
