Hugh Jackman’s new sci-fi epic has definitely got our attention…

Let us tie up some connections between Hugh Jackman’s new sci-fi epic Reminiscence and the now-classic sci-fi epic Inception.

Reminiscence is written and directed by Lisa Joy, who is also the co-creator of HBO’s Westworld, which she produced with Jonathan Nolan, who is the brother of Christopher Nolan, and he wrote or co-wrote the scripts for some of Christopher Nolan’s movies.

Then there is Jackman himself, who starred in The Prestige (a movie written by Jonathan and directed by Christopher).

And then there are the opening shots of the trailer for Reminiscence, which will immediately bring to mind some memories from the scenes within the sunken city towards the end of Inception, as well as a big sci-fi concept that deals with memories and brain tinkering.

Here is the official plot synopsis:

“Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories.

“Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client. A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession.

“As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?”

Aside from Jackman, the movie also stars Thandie Newton, Rebecca Ferguson, and Cliff Curtis.

Reminiscence will arrive in Irish cinemas on Wednesday, 18 June.
