The Sinner is back with “the most dangerous and disturbing case” yet.

While there are still plenty of great new TV shows to enjoy in 2019, it’s very likely that some viewers will be very interested in seeing the return of The Sinner in 2020.

Originally slated to premiere this year, the third season of the murder mystery has now been pushed back until next year but to tide fans over, the first footage of the new season has been released.

Season 3 will follow Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) as he investigates a tragic car accident in upstate New York. As the case unfolds, Ambrose “uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career”.

As is the norm with the anthology show, there’s plenty of new additions to the cast.

Matt Bomer will be playing a character named Jamie, “an upstanding Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident”. Based on the first footage below, it looks like he might have some details to share about this disturbing case.

Elsewhere, Chris Messina stars as Nick Haas, Jamie’s college friend and as the season develops”a surprise visit years later unexpectedly alters the course of their friendship and their lives.”

Jessica Hecht plays Sonya, a painter who gets involved when the car accident occurs on her property. Parisa Fitz-Henley stars as Leela Burns, Jamie’s expectant wife, and Eddie Martinez stars as Vic Soto, a rising star detective who works with Ambrose.

Just like the first two seasons of the show, we expect Season 3 of The Sinner to air on USA Network before it’s added to Netflix for Irish audiences to watch.

Take a look at what’s in store.
