WATCH: Technical glitch on BBC leaves viewers staring at presenter twiddling thumbs for minutes

Can’t. Stop. Watching.

The BBC had some gremlins in their system last night, so much so that one of their presenters was left on screen for several minutes while they tried to fix the problem.

Huw Edwards presents the BBC News At Ten and when the start of the show rolled around on Tuesday night, he was left sitting in silence trying to look busy by writing some things down and generally twiddling his thumbs.

To viewers at home, it looked like he was unaware he was being filmed.

While it doesn’t top this moment from the BBC, we still found it pretty damn funny.

Viewers on BBC One were also treated to some soft jazz music for five minutes while the problem was being fixed.

The glitch was down to a technical system crash moments before ten o’clock which left them needing to switch to a back-up system according to the programme editor Paul Royall.

After his broadcast, Edwards tweeted a photograph of a can of ale along with the words: “I think I’m going to enjoy this little beauty after that Ten. Iechyd da!”

But viewers at home were very entertained by it all…
