WATCH: U2 get theatrical as they bring Songs of Experience to Saturday Night Live
Bono went into full preacher mode.
Love them or hate them, you can't deny that U2 know how to put on a show.
And so it was no real surprise that Bono brought the theatrics in the form of a stars-and-stripes covered megaphone as the band delivered a couple of cuts from Songs of Experience to the Saturday Night Live audience.
Released on Friday, the 14th album from Bono and the boys has proven quite divisive, currently sporting a 65/100 score on reviews aggregator Metacritic. Our own Eric Lalor, meanwhile, reckons that it ranks among the band's greatest work.

Introduced by host Saoirse Ronan, who herself drew major criticism for appearing in a very strange Aer Lingus sketch, U2 first tackled 'American Soul' with Kendrick Lamar's spoken word feature and a dodgy sound mix for company.

The driving 'Get Out Of Your Way' fared better, with U2 on stadium-friendly footing, benefitting from a familiar rousing chorus and typical showmanship from Bono.
