One of the best police thrillers of recent years has arrived.

The very first episode of The Wire debuted 20 years ago this week, and to this day, it is still considered to be one of the very best TV shows ever made.

The creator of that show now has a brand-new show called We Own This City, and it is available to stream at home this week with a NOW Entertainment Membership.

Once again setting up shop in the city of Baltimore, it tells the story of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, who are attempting to do their job to the best of their ability, while dealing with corruption throughout the city, including inside their own task force.

The entire series was directed by the man behind the Oscar-winning King Richard, with a very impressive cast in front of the camera including Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) and Wunmi Mosaku (Loki).

As for the show overall, perhaps Paste Magazine put it best when they said “Provocative, powerful, and with first-rate performances, We Own This City is the next generation of The Wire fans have long craved.”

All six episodes of We Own This City are available to stream with a NOW Entertainment Membership.
