There are great trailers, then there’s this.
If you haven’t seen The Lives of Others then you’re in for a real treat – seriously, there are moments when it feels like there’s an elephant stomping on your chest – but if you have seen the Cold War drama, you’ll be delighted to know that its creator is back with a new show on Netflix and it looks like an absolute doozy.
If you’re a fan of crime, horror, mystery and the macabre, Dark is just the thing for you.
The show revolves around a search for a missing child that sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers.
Their search for the culprit though unearths a small town’s sins and secrets. The disappearance of these two kids opens abysses that turn the concept of time on its head. In a very curious twist, the question ultimately becomes not who has kidnapped the children… but when?
With ten hour-long episodes, the story takes on a supernatural twist that ties back to the same town in 1986.
Having seen the trailer, we couldn’t help but think that it’s a tantalising mix of so many of our favourite TV shows and films.
Stranger Things (the plot), Gone Girl (the aesthetic), Black Mirror (the time-bending narrative), True Detective (the occult element).
Dark premieres on Netflix on December 1st.
Take a look.
