Big titles leaving Netflix and what can Irish viewers expect

Rian Johnson’s Knives Out and the entire Creed trilogy are among the biggest names heading for the exit.

The list was compiled by streaming trackers What’s on Netflix for the UK and Ireland region, which share the same catalogue, so Irish subscribers can expect the vast majority of these titles to disappear from Netflix here too from the start of the month.

Leading the departures on 1 September is Knives Out (2019), the whodunnit that spawned a hit franchise.

Alongside, all three Creed films – Creed (2015), Creed 2 (2018) and Creed 3 (2023). Will Smith fans also lose the full Bad Boys run, including Bad Boys for Life (2020).

All the while, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) and Flatliners (2017) are all on the way out.

There is plenty for family audiences to catch up on before the deadline, too. Animated favourite The Boss Baby (2017) is going, along with Bridge to Terabithia (2007) and the animated classic The Swan Princess (1994).

Elsewhere, David O. Russell’s star-studded caper Amsterdam (2022) and the ’90s creature feature Anaconda (1997), plus its sequel Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), are among the wider batch heading off on 1 September.

Irish titles among the departures

There are a couple of home-grown losses to note as well.

The Nobody Zone: Interview with an Irish Serial Killer (2023) is leaving Netflix on 1 September, while the documentary An Irish Story: This Is My Home (2020) departs on 2 September as part of a second, larger wave that is heavy on documentaries and foreign-language titles.

What it means for Irish viewers

Netflix rotates its library constantly as licensing deals expire, and because the platform runs a shared UK and Ireland service, removals published for the UK almost always mirror what disappears here.

In practice, that means Irish subscribers hoping for one last watch of Knives Out, a Creed marathon or a Bad Boys triple-bill are on the same countdown as viewers across the water.

With so many titles leaving Netflix at once, the advice is simple: check your watchlist now, because once September arrives these films will be gone from the Irish library.
