More Tom Hardy is never a bad thing.

With Deadpool and The Avengers sweeping up all the cash at the box-office this summer, things are going to get a lot darker on October 5th when Venom is unleashed.

It’s clear that the film means an awful lot to Hardy because as he previously said: “I promise to deliver you the best Eddie Brock/Venom I can; because I know how important it is to the fans and to the Marvel Universe and to the awesome team that is working super hard to deliver day and night out here in Atlanta right now.”

The producer of Venom, Matthew Tolmach, has already described Hardy’s performance as a masterclass and “from the day that we first met with him, we found someone who just believed in this character entirely and yet every day pushes it to a place that us mere mortals would never expect it go.”

After finally getting a look at Eddie Brock becoming infected by the Symbiote – that’s an alien parasite that requires a host to live – we also got some more details regarding Woody Harrelson’s character in the film.

After confirming that he’s definitely in the film, it appears that he’s going to be working with Ruben Fleischer for a third time on Venom 2 – the pair previously collaborated on Zombieland.

In an interview with Collider, Harrelson confirmed that he’ll have a small role in Venom but more interestingly, he announced that a sequel is already in the works.

“I’m just … I’m in a little fraction of this movie, but I’ll be in the next one, you know? So I haven’t read that script, but anyways, just rolled the dice,” he said.

Given the draw of Hardy in the lead role and Venom’s beloved status as a cult-hero in the comic book world, we’re not surprised to hear that a sequel is already being prepared.

Here’s hoping that this news is a major sign of confidence from Sony with regards to  Fleischer’s adaptation of the lethal protector.
