Here are the 6 best movies on TV this Friday evening

Not at Electric Picnic? Don't worry. There are movies on TV.

There will always be movies on TV.

Unfortunately, we've still a few weeks to wait before we get to see Maura Higgins light up The Late Late Show, so all we've got tonight is our movies. Thankfully, there are some really good options on the box tonight.

The Flag - 9.35pm - RTÉ One

A 2016 Irish film starring Pat Shortt and Moe Dunford, who try to steal an Irish flag from an army barracks in London after learning an ancestor was the one who raised that very flag above the GPO in 1916.

Tremors - 10pm - ITV4

A young Kevin Bacon has to fight off some horrifying monsters called Graboids in this 1990 monster-comedy.

10 Things I Hate About You - 10pm - Comedy Central

Back before Heath Ledger was The Joker, he was a teen heart-throb. 10 Things I Hate About You is based on Shakespeare's comedy Taming of the Shrew, and is a very fun throwback to the '90s.

Pulp Fiction - 10pm - Dave

One of very few films that needs no introduction whatsoever. An all-time classic.

The King's Speech - 10.25pm - BBC One NI

Colin Firth plays King George the VI and has to overcome a speech impediment to make a rousing speech on-radio as Britain declares war on Germany in 1939. Somehow British politics is even more chaotic now. Won Best Picture at the Oscars.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - 10.45pm - UTV

The second instalment of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. Benedict Cumberbatch turns in a very convincing performance as a dragon.
