Young Offenders Christmas Special

Christmas with Conor and Jock. Yes!

The holiday season is always tinged with a little bit of chaos as last-minute shopping, travel plans, and those random people that just happen to show up at your house are always prevalent.

This being said, things can always get worse.

For example, you could have your bike nicked, witness a granny in the nip, and be on a bus that’s hijacked by Billy Murphy.

Of course, this would only happen if you’re living in the wonderful world of The Young Offenders and as previously reported, Conor and Jock are returning with a brand new Christmas Special.

On the most recent edition of The Late Late Show, Ryan Tubridy announced that RTÉ will air the show on Christmas Day.

Fans of The Young Offenders are in for another treat because the charming and talented Demi Isaac Oviawe (Linda) will also be participating in the Irish edition of Dancing with the Stars and while promoting that show, Tubridy revealed that “you can also see Demi in The Young Offenders Christmas Special on RTÉ1 on Christmas Day”.

At present, RTÉ haven’t confirmed the exact time that the show will air but we do know a fair bit about the plot.

It’s Christmas week, and the residents of the estate where Conor (Alex Murphy), Jock (Chris Walley) and Mairead (Hilary Rose) live have been fighting off an eviction from the council for over a month. The situation has been getting national media coverage and everyone involved is on edge, including the police.

While all this is happening, Mairead has been sick for weeks and has to be taken to hospital, a place Conor and Jock hate. Not knowing how to help, the lads ask Mairead if there’s anything they can get her. Mairead says she’s never seen a white Christmas, so the two friends set off on a chaotic adventure to try make her wish come true.

Of course, The Young Offenders Christmas Special will be shown a bit earlier on the BBC – 23 December to be exact – but if you happen to miss that broadcast, it’s good to know that just like a langer version of Santa, Conor and Jock will be in your home this Christmas.

Just don’t steal anything, lads!
