ZeroZeroZero is a must-watch for fans of Sicario and Narcos

And it features Ireland’s own Gabriel Byrne.

Epic drug dramas really have become hugely popular in the last few years.

Sicario (and the sequel). Narcos (and the Mexico spin-off). Gomorrah. American Made. And we probably have Breaking Bad to thank for it all.

Prime Video’s new show ZeroZeroZero might be taking on the widest scope of them all, looking at the global repercussions of the drug trade, especially when a major deal goes south.

Focusing on a shipment of cocaine that is being smuggled from South America to mainland Europe, the limited series will focus on the sellers, the buyers, and the brokers, the latter of which seem to be comprised of a family business: Gabriel Byrne, and his two on-screen kids, Andrea Riseborough (Black Mirror) and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle).

Based on a book by the same author as Gomorrah, with the show executive-produced and some of the episodes directed by Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado), that combination goes some way to explaining why the trailer for this show feels like a Best Of Compilation mix of all of those shows and movies. Which is a massive compliment, by the way.

All eight episodes of ZeroZeroZero will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from Friday 6 March.
