5 Dos and Don’ts of going to music festivals

It's that time of year again

JOE

Do you remember your first festival experience?

We remember ours.

It was absolutely fantastic… until we realised we forgot to bring loo roll and our phone was dead.

This list of dos and don’ts should prevent any of you JOE’s making the same mistakes we did.

Do: Pack wisely

You should pack sunscreen and sunglasses in case you get sunny weather and a raincoat for when you don’t. Sanitary wipes, loo roll and a novelty outfit are all also essential.

Don’t: Pack loads of whiskey

Going easy on the spirits is definitely a good idea, because you don’t want your festival to be ruined by a hangover, or worse.

Do: Leave your valuables at home

A tent isn’t exactly Fort Knox. If someone wants to break in, they can and will.

No matter how good a buzz there is at a festival, there’s always a few who have sinister intentions.

Don’t: Leave your tickets at home

Listening to your favourite band from the car park isn’t that much fun.

Do:  Have your phone fully-charged.

Music festivals are big places, so you don’t want to lose your mates five minutes into your weekend.

Don’t: Get charged yourself.

Be careful how far you go with mischief at a festival, you don’t want to do something you regret.

jusbiebDo: Meet people

A festival is a great place to make new friends and have the craic with people you’ve never met before.

Don’t: Leave yourself in a dangerous situation with these people

They may be sound and all, but at the end of the day you don’t actually know these people. Stay safe.

Do: Keep an open mind

Not everything is going to go to plan and that’s OK too. Just enjoy yourself!

Don’t: Keep an open wallet

Be careful where you keep your cash. It will disappear very quickly if you’re not cautious.
