Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner grows a beard and the reaction is just as patchy

Who among us has never dabbled with facial hair? Alex Turner, we salute you.

We've all been there. We've all had a crack at growing a beard, trying out a moustache; some of us have even dared to give sideburns a go. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes we look like we should be presenting Blue Peter in the 1980s. It's a gamble, but one we all take (assuming we can actually grow facial hair at all). With a bit of a trim, the Monkeys man might be able to shape it into something better, but perhaps the reality is that he simply looks better clean-shaven. Seeing as the beard had become a fairly standard look for men these days, rocking the clean-shaven look is a little more unique. There's no shame in shaving, Alex. No shame.
