Alex Turner claims he was just nervous and in no way off his face on booze during his strange Brit Awards acceptance speech.

The Arctic Monkeys frontman had everyone assuming he’d overdone it on the gargle when he gave a rambling talk about the resurrection of rock and roll when on stage to receive the award for Best British Album of the Year. He then purposely dropped his microphone on to the ground. http://youtu.be/aucvrcBYSrM Turner, however, says he was just nervous talking in front of a TV audience of millions and his words got away from him. He told the Mail on Sunday: ‘In public I’m a quiet guy, so doing anything in front of lots of people always makes me nervous. ‘I’m known for my music, not how well I deliver a speech. ‘People always assume if you’re in a band that’s been on the scene for ages that you’re going to be really confident, but that’s not true.’ We believe you. Billions would not.
