There could be very bad news for anyone that got a ticket to one of Ed Sheeran’s Irish gigs

Ed Sheeran

He wouldn’t, would he?

Ed Sheeran is due to touch down on Irish shores for a string of dates this May, and one of those planned shows may be in doubt.

Celebrity gossip bible US Weekly reports that Sheeran has been tapped to perform at a small private wedding ceremony in London involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on 19 May, the same day he’s set to take to the stage for his third Phoenix Park show.

Though the ceremony is set to take place at midday, Sheeran is also scheduled to perform in Dublin the night before, which doesn’t really leave a lot of time in between to get over and back for the kind of wedding gig you don’t really want to phone in.

US Weekly quotes an insider close to the situation who confirms that Prince Harry has “personally requested” Sheeran’s services on the big day in question, and notes that Sheeran is indeed expected to honour that invitation.

Sheeran had previously appeared open to the idea, telling reporters, ‘Yeah, why not?’ when asked about possibly performing after receiving his MBE at Buckingham Palace in December.

Perhaps the previous commitment to tens of thousands of Irish fans slipped his mind on that day…
