Blindboy, Christy Moore and Villagers among the acts set to reopen Vicar St

The famous Dublin venue is ready to open its doors again.

What's the last gig you went to in pre-pandemic times? Chances are, it may have taken place in Dublin's revered Vicar Street venue. The overall shutdown of live events has proven a major talking point during the pandemic as the arts industry in Ireland continues to push for a full capacity re-opening ahead of Friday, 22 October. For most people in the country, it has simply been a difficult loss to bear. Thankfully, it would appear that live music and comedy is on the comeback trail. As far as the aforementioned Vicar Street is concerned, a stellar line-up has been put together for the big re-opening. A series of concerts dubbed 'VISION: Live at Vicar Street' will take place between Thursday, 23 September and Thursday, 21 October. Acts set to perform include The Blindboy Podcast, Christy Moore, Villagers, Damien Dempsey, Tommy Tiernan, Foil, Arms & Hog, Tony Cantwell and many more.

“Myself and the crew can’t wait to meet our loyal artists and fans who have always been so kind to us," said Vicar Street owner Harry Crosbie on Friday afternoon.

"Vicar St opened its doors on 30 August, 1998 and over the first 22 years we have proudly hosted over 5,000 unforgettable shows to over five million people by amazing homegrown and international artists. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to this very special place in the heart of The Liberties."

The shows will be fully seated and sold at up to 60% capacity, based on current health guidelines. Tickets – available here – will be assigned to pods of two and four. The first eight shows from 23 September – 3 October will go on sale this Monday, 13 September at midday. All other shows will go on sale the following day at the same time.
