Bruce Springsteen is being lined up for a gig in Galway Airport this summer

Could the Boss be on his way to the west?

Bruce Springsteen has already committed to one Irish gig in Croke Park this summer, but the Boss could be taking his talents to Galway if the Galway City Council has their way.

According to Galway Bay FM, Councillor Pearse Flannery proposed a motion to invite Bruce Springsteen to perform at Galway Airport at a meeting of the city council last night, saying that the city and council owned site in Carnmore in the east of the city was a perfect concert venue.

The motion was passed at the meeting last night, although there were concerns raised about the site’s suitability compared to Croke Park and concerns that the mandatory 13-week license application will have expired by the time the Boss gets to Ireland at the end of May.

It was agreed at last night’s meeting that Aiken Promotions, who are looking after Springsteen’s Croke Park gig, will be contacted about the possibility, with Flannery telling Galway Bay FM that he despairs of things being ruled out before they are even explored.

Fair play to you Pearse, it might be a long shot, but we’ll take as much Bruce as we can possibly get.
