Angie Bowie was married to the singer for 10 years.
Celebrity Big Brother and Channel 5 are being accused of exploiting David Bowie’s tragic death in an effort to boost ratings after they showed footage of Angie Bowie – the singer’s ex-wife – reacting to the news of his death.
The former model is currently starring in the reality TV show and was seen breaking down in tears immediately after hearing the tragic news.
Prior to the footage airing, Celebrity Big Brother issued a statement which said “”Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death, we can now confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed off camera by her representatives”.
“She has taken the decision to continue in the programme. The decision to remain in the house is entirely her choice, and she has been given the option to leave at any time if she changes her mind. Appropriate support will be available to Angie at any time if needed.”
For those asking – Angie was told the tragic news about David Bowie off camera by her agent, then spoke to BB about it in the Diary Room.

Despite this statement being made, thousands of people were still upset with the footage being aired and they shared their views via Twitter.
CBB's decision to show Angie Bowie being told of David's death on camera is a new low. A private moment that should never become television.

Absolutely wrong on @bbuk to use a clip of Angie finding out the news of David's passing to gain more views, have some respect #CBB

Screw #CBB for showing Angela Bowie's 'reaction' to Bowie's death. So distasteful and disrespectful. Why is that entertainment?

Really bad taste to show Angie Bowie's diary room reaction to David's death. Yes, she's staying, but still a horrible moment. #CBB
