Chris Brown faces up to six months in prison due to him owning a capuchin monkey.
The animal was seized by Californian authorities, and according to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the RnB singer faces two counts of owning a restricted species without a permit.
Brown reportedly got the monkey - named Fiji - for his then-three-year-old daughter last year.
He frequently posted photos of Fiji on social media, leading to many comments criticising him for keeping the animal in captivity.

Apparently, Brown was inspired to get a monkey by Bubbles, the pet chimp of his hero Michael Jackson.
TMZ report that the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife was notified about the monkey, and obtained a search warrant for Brown's home after discovering he didn't have a warrant for the animal. However, he then agreed to voluntary hand over Fiji to authorities.
The maximum penalty for owning a restricted species without a permit is six months. Brown is due in court on February 6th.
