A tribute to “Ireland’s foremost sound engineer” takes place in March.

Trad hero Christy Moore is set for a busy 2019, with gigs recently confirmed for Louth on top of a previously announced major summer headline show in Cork.

There’s no stopping the Newbridge icon at the moment as he steps into a run of Vicar Street dates dotted about this and next month.

If you missed out on those shows, there’s good news as you now have another chance to catch him in the famous Dublin venue and it’s all in aid of a great cause, too.

Moore will team up for a super-show of sorts on Wednesday 13 March 2019 with Declan Sinnott, Donal Lunny and Jim Higgins in memory of Tim Martin, who worked as a sound engineer with those aforementioned men for over 30 years.

The late Martin’s CV also boasts the likes of Thin Lizzy, The Cranberries, Planxty, Horslips, The Dubliners, The Corrs, Aslan, The Frames, Whipping Boy and Daniel O’Donnell, and that really is just naming a few.

By the request of Martin’s family, all proceeds from the gig will go towards the Irish Hospice Foundation.

“Tim Martin was the foremost sound engineer in Ireland,” says Moore.

“He is sadly and badly missed particularly by his family but also by all of those fortunate enough to have worked with him across the years.

“Apart from the skills and expertise apparent in his work, Tim was a good friend. His attention to detail, his focus, his preparedness to catch those magic spontaneous moments gave us all great confidence in the recording process.

“On top of all that Tim was mighty craic!!”

Tickets go on sale this coming Tuesday 18 December at 9am via Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.
