A treat for fans of the Peaky Blinders star.

Given the fact that music features so heavily in Peaky Blinders, it comes as no surprise to learn that Cillian Murphy plays an integral part in finding and selecting the perfect tunes to accompany Steven Knight’s superb drama.

Of course, the star of Dunkirk and 28 Days Later has an pretty impressive history as a musician.

Before he decided to pursue acting, the Cork star sang and played guitar in several bands alongside his brother, and their most famous band was called ‘The Sons of Mr. Greengenes.’

Thankfully for film fans, Murphy decided that acting was the craft that he would pursue but as he frequently does, the Peaky Blinders star will be getting behind the mic and playing some of his favourite tunes this weekend.

On Sunday from 13:00, the gifted actor will be hosting a three-hour special featuring the music he’s loved this year including Julia Holter, Connan Mockasin and Villagers.

Nice to see the brilliant Conor O’Brien getting a mention.

If you fancy listening to Murphy’s dulcet tones, all the fun kicks-off on BBC Radio 6 at 13:00 on 23 December.
