David Bowie’s long term producer talks about his poignant final album and legacy

Bowie’s final studio album takes on a new meaning.

While initial reviews of David Bowie’s latest album Blackstar have been nothing but positive – it currently has an average rating of 86% on Metacritic – the album will now take on a new significance due to the fact that the singer was bravely battling with cancer during the recording process.

Long-term producer Tony Visconti first worked with Bowie on his 1969 album Space Oddity and has been a frequent collaborator on a multitude of other albums like Diamond Dogs (1974), Young Americans (1975), Low (1977) and Heroes (1977).

Visconti was also present during the recording of  Blackstar and he has paid tribute to his friend via Facebook.
