One chapter of the book tells the story of how Blunt landed a deal with Atlantic Records in 2004, to what we're told is at Kitt's expense. The You're Beautiful singer said that they both performed at a gig at Bush Hall on the Uxbridge Road in 2004, with Kitt offering Blunt the use of his band's sound man, agreeing they would split the sound check times. However, the book says that Kitt reneged on his offer and took up the entirety of the soundcheck, while also addressing him as "James C**t" backstage ahead of the gig. There's a magnificent, borderline vicious couple of pages on David Kitt in James Blunt's book (which, much like the man himself, is hilarious). pic.twitter.com/9N3L1lXi4k

The Irish musician took to Twitter to clear up the story, saying: "Just reading James Blunt‘s completely fabricated Alan Partridge version of what happened this day in 2004. "Congrats to him on his great career and being a funny guy, but the truth I simply said a polite hello backstage and had no idea who he was or any of the issues mentioned." Despite the story being almost certainly joke, it was probably best for Kitt to clear up any confusion, just in case of any backlash. Or perhaps one of 2024's most unexpected musical feuds is just getting started.just reading @JamesBlunt 's completely fabricated alan partridge version of what happened this day in 2004. congrats to him on his great career and being a funny guy but the truth i simply said a polite hello backstage and had no idea who he was or any of the issues mentioned https://t.co/KgrUy4Dn9o
