New Dermot Kennedy video set at Electric Picnic is fittingly excellent

Rudi Kinsella

Dermot Kennedy All My Friends

A magnificent video for a magnificent song.

Dermot Kennedy has released a video for his song ‘All My Friends’, set at Electric Picnic.

Starring Dublin actresses Lauryn Canny and Jordanne Jones, the video features footage from Kennedy’s actual EP performance from 2019, while also telling a beautiful/heartbreaking/heartwarming fictional story.

Seriously, we’ll need to watch it a few more times to fully come to terms with the emotions we’re going through…

The video tells an all too real story of the struggle of setting up a tent, sneaking in naggins and having to deal with your friend going off to get the ride while you’re left on your own. We’ve all been there.

Directed by Brendan Canty and produced by Ruff Studio, it makes for a perfect visual accompaniment to what is already a really powerful song.

Kennedy released the video on Monday morning, with the message: “My good friend Brendan Canty has made this short film about my set at Electric Picnic last year. The best live moment I’ve ever had. Singing these songs to a sea of people at home meant so much. I hope you enjoy this.”
