WATCH: Dermot Kennedy’s intimate Tiny Desk concert is absolutely brilliant

Dermot Kennedy

Spellbinding stuff…

Dermot Kennedy is a pretty big deal.

The Dublin singer-songwriter has become an international sensation in a relatively short space of time, selling out venues across the world and winning fans like Taylor Swift and Zane Lowe.

At home, his gigs sell out in seconds, and you can expect a huge crowd to greet him in Stradbally at Electric Picnic next weekend.

In the run-up to that, Kennedy has teamed up with NPR for their acclaimed Tiny Desk concert series.

As the name implies, Tiny Desk is an intimate affair, allowing artists into a small space to deliver a big statement or three.

As such, Kennedy’s booming and brooding voice shines here alongside the Howard Gospel Choir.

NPR says that Kennedy flew to the States from Ireland a day ahead of time to meet and rehearse with the choir in order to ensure that everything was note-perfect.

Check out unique takes on ‘Moments Passed’, ‘An Evening I Will Not Forget’ and ‘Glory’ below.
