Do The Dance: JOE’s pick of who to go and see at Body & Soul 2014

Please don't let it rain...

Please don’t let it rain…

The festival season is well and truly underway as Body & Soul returns to Westmeath this Friday. Like an annoying hipster who feels that their taste in music is better than everyone elses, JOE has decided to take a look at some of our favourite acts on the bill…

Darkside
Catch them: Friday, Body & Soul Stage 00.30
Nicolas Jarr’s new project has garnered rave reviews and it’s easy to see why. The wonderkid has already earned commercial and critical success on the back of his feature album ‘Space is Only Noise’ and his remix of Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories.’ Expect to be captivated by their unique dark mix of strings, loops, bass and synth.

John Grant
Catch him : Saturday, Body & Soul Stage 19.45
JOE was lucky enough to see the Denver singer last summer and quite frankly we were blown away. The former lead singer of The Czars has the ability to captivate crowds with his deeply personal songs about addiction, depression and love. His two albums ‘Queen of Denmark’ and ‘Pale Green Ghosts’ are stunning.

Check him out…

Young Wonder
Catch them : Saturday, Body & Soul Stage 15:30
JOE are big fans of the Cork electro-pop duo , Rachel Pixie and Ian Ring, who have already built up a strong following around the country on the back of their ‘Show Your Teeth’ EP. Their gentle mix of soft vocals and catchy beats is perfect for festival goers who want to chill out. They have already supported Alt-J and Le Galaxie and are well worth seeing.

Mount Kimbie
Catch them at: Midnight Circus, Saturday, 23:15
It’s very tempting for JOE to go and see Goldfrapp on the main stage but we are big fans of the London electro duo. Their tribal beats are infectious and they will definitely get under your skin.

Caribou
Catch them: Sunday, Body & Soul Stage 22:45
It’s hard to believe that it has been almost 13 years since Dan Snaith and Caribou first came to JOE’S attention. His mix of electro and psychedelia is sure to go down a treat with dance fans.

JOE will see you all there. It’s easy to find us, we’ll be the one with the terrible dance moves.
