Cork radio station have renamed themselves to celebrate the arrival of Ed Sheeran

Rory Cashin

Sometimes the simplest jokes are the best ones.

In case you didn’t already know it, Ed Sheeran is in Ireland this weekend.

The ‘Shape Of You’ singer is kicking off his country-wide tour in Cork on Friday, before heading to Belfast, and then Galway, and ultimately Dublin over the guts of the following two weeks.

As we’ve previously reported, the timetable for the nights will be as follows:

8:45pm | Ed Sheeran

7:30pm | Anne Marie

6:30pm | Jamie Lawson

5:45pm | Beoga

Additionally, the full list of banned items from the gigs have been released, and you can check those out here.

However, as Ed touches down in Cork on Friday morning, local radio station RedFM have changed their branding to celebrate, now becoming edFM while he’s in town.

We would’ve thought that RedFM was also a pretty good descriptor to celebrate Ed’s arrival, but that is a conversation for another day…
