WATCH: Ed Sheeran returns to the scene of an iconic photo taken of him in Galway years ago

He’s come a long way in the time since.

Galway is no stranger to famous visitors, but there was still plenty of commotion and excitement when Ed Sheeran came to the west on Tuesday evening.

Ed was in town – in O’Connor’s pub in Salthill to be more precise – to film the music video for ‘Galway Girl’, the third single from his massively popular third album, Divide.

When word got out that Ed was in Galway on Tuesday, it didn’t take long for sizeable crowds to show up outside O’Connor’s hoping to get an up close and personal glimpse of Ed ahead of his sold-out gigs at the 3 Arena in Dublin on Wednesday and Thursday night.

Had the same crowds been around Shop Street in the wee hours of Wednesday morning (approximately 2.30am), they would have caught Ed returning to the scene where a famous photo of him busking was taken years ago outside The Treasure Chest giftware and fashion store on Shop Street.

In the video sent into us by JOE reader Valerie Walsh, Ed could be seen posing for photos with fans outside the shop while a busker not an awful lot unlike him played guitar in the background.

Ed’s certainly making the most of every minute he has in Ireland on his current trip; as well as shooting the music video in Galway and playing two gigs at the 3 Arena, he’s also going to co-host The Eoghan McDermott Show live in studio on RTÉ 2fm this Thursday.

Sure he might as well just come over and live here at this stage.

Cheers to Valerie Walsh for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
