Ed Sheeran announces three Irish shows as part of major new tour
Big gigs are back, baby!
Lovable pop rogue Ed Sheeran has confirmed the news we are all suspecting – the flame-haired troubadour is set to play a string of Irish dates in support of his forthcoming new album.
Aiken Promotions confirmed the news on Friday morning (17 September), with Sheeran locked in for dates in Cork, Limerick and Belfast.
The 30-year-old will pitch up at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork, on 28, April 2022, Thomond Park Stadium in Limerick on 5 May and Boucher Road Playing Fields in Belfast on 12 May.
You'll notice that there's no Dublin date there. Sheeran had been rumoured to be nailing down a residency in the Phoenix Park or perhaps a two-night stand at Croke Park, so one of those options may still come to pass. Or maybe it's just these three gigs.
In any event, it's all in support of new album = which arrives on 29 October, just in time for Halloween.
The shows represent a major statement of intent from Aiken Promotions as gigs began to come back proper, with both Garth Brooks and Bruce Springsteen all but confirmed for Irish shores in 2022.
Tickets for Ed Sheeran's jaunt go on sale Saturday, 25 September via Ticketmaster.
