Electric Picnic tickets going for big, big bucks online

With the Stradbally festival sold out, the price of tickets on online auction site eBay is rocketing.

With the Stradbally festival sold out, the price of tickets on online auction site eBay is rocketing.

The 10th Electric Picnic takes place this weekend in Laois and after a very smart marketing campaign, and some reduced prices, the event was confirmed as sold out last week.

But as you might imagine, there are still tickets out there, if you are prepared to pay a hefty price. A very hefty price.

A quick check on eBay this morning shows that two three-day camping tickets are for sale for €1000, or €500 each. With some weekend tickets available for €149.50, if you had proof of three previous attendances, then that’s a fairly serious mark up on face value.

Another listing, with two more weekend camping tickets for sale, has 13 bids to date, with the latest €760 for the pair. Other tickets, one with 39 bids, are going for €365 and €335 each at the time of writing, a few days before the festival begins.

Other sellers are offering tickets for ‘buy it now’ prices of €700 or €750 for ONE ticket.

With a line-up that includes Bjork, Fatboy Slim and the Arctic Monkeys, as well as all the other wild and wonderful stuff the Picnic has to offer, it is a great festival, but those are very steep prices.
