The line-up just announced for a big festival in Australia is probably the best you’ll see this year

A little something for everyone.

‘Tis the season for music festival announcements and with all due respect to Electric Picnic (the line-up for which met with something of a mixed reaction) and the rest, we think we might have come across the best of the lot.

The 17th annual Splendour in the Grass festival takes place in North Byron Parklands, a short spin north of Byron Bay on Australia’s east coast, in July (21-23) and the line-up is an absolute doozy.

Headlined by none other than Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, The XX, Sigur Rós and more, it also features the likes of *pauses for breath* Haim, Two Door Cinema Club, Future Islands, Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, George Ezra, Vance Joy, Father John Misty and a whole host of other brilliant acts.

Tickets to the festival, which go on sale on Thursday, April 6, cost AUS $169 + $6 booking fee (approximately €125) for a single day and $385 + $7 booking fee (approximately €280) for three days.

A separate five-night camping ticket, meanwhile, costs $129 + $5 booking fee (approximately €95) per person.

Whether the line-up alone is worth a trip to Australia is entirely up to you, but we’re suddenly very jealous of the many Irish people living in the vicinity who will no doubt gleefully take advantage of the opportunity to take in the festival of a lifetime in the summer.
