The first acts will be announced next Wednesday.

Fans of the one of the most popular Irish summer festivals can breathe a huge sigh of relief after organisers confirmed that it would return to Marlay Park this summer.

It was announced on Thursday afternoon that the festival will be taking place at the Dublin venue from Friday 14 – Sunday 16 July, with the first round of acts to be announced on Wednesday, March 1.

The delayed confirmation about the return of this year’s festival and the delayed confirmation of Marlay Park as the venue had been the source of some disquiet amongst music fans (check the comments under the Facebook post below), who can now breathe a sigh of relief that its date in the summer calendar has been confirmed.

It only increases anticipation ahead of a summer when the likes of Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon and the Pixies are coming to Dublin, not to mention U2’s massive gig at Croke Park and Electric Picnic come the start of September.

Plenty to look forward to alright.
