Football journalist Guillem Balague and Irish singer-songwriter Best Boy Grip team up to release brilliant new single

We've heard John Barnes rap and Robbie Keane croon, but Best Boy Balague is the collaboration we've all been waiting for...

Here at JOE HQ we may know him better as a sharp-suited, transfer-talking football journalist, but it seems that Spanish Sky Sports star Guillem Balague has a secret songwriting skill that has long been kept under wraps... until now that is. The award-winning journalist and best-selling author will be appearing at Bennigan's bar in Derry this evening, as talented singer-songwriter Best Boy Grip AKA Eoin O'Callaghan premieres the pundit's piece of music following months of cross-continental collaboration. Here's hoping that they can pitch all of their notes accurately. Get it? Pitch their notes? As in "football pitch?" Never mind... Kicking off at 9pm, the strike (up-a-chord) pair will be performing following a football Q&A in the bar, and it seems that Balague has already been getting a taste of the local cuisine as he sampled the bar's world-famous (world-famous in Derry at least) tasty toast and tipple combo...

Best Boy Grip's material features on BBC radio regularly and the collaborations with Balague are now following suit, having already notched up plays on the BBC and on talkSPORT. Although tonight's event in Derry is unfortunately sold out, the good news is that Balague and Best Boy Grip plan to take the show, and their brand new EP, on tour in Ireland and England at some stage in the future, so watch this space... not the ball.
